Our Story
Hunters Bakery is a 3rd generation artisan bakery that has been family run since 1924. Ever since inception, we have focused on using quality ingredients and time-proven recipes to produce freshly-baked goods for our customers.
Our History
Our family and the bakery have a rich history here in Limavady. Before the bakery, it started here at the Hunter family home on Market Street, which doubled as the premises for a seed and grain merchant business, ran by, John Hunter Senior. After his untimely death, his 14 year old son, John Hunter (Johnny), had to go into full time work in the business. Johnny went onto expand this fledgling business in the early 1900's to an extensive milling company.

In 1924 Johnny founded Hunters Bakery in the current Market Street location. Using the most modern versions of ovens available at the time, Johnny, was forward thinking and made Hunters one of the most important employers in the north west of Northern Ireland at the time. These ovens were still in use until the 1980's!
